Urban to oversee Design and Construction of New Philadelphia Stadiums

The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation has selected Urban to perform management oversight for the design and construction of the new Phillies' and Eagles' Stadiums in South Philadelphia. The concurrent design and construction of $1 billion worth of sports stadiums within one-half mile of each other will be one of the nation's most intensive developments.

The Urban-led team includes HNTB Corporation, Ralph Tyler Companies, and Talson Solutions. The scope of work includes schedule reviews, design plan reviews, cost monitoring/cash flow management, claims avoidance/dispute resolution, quality management reviews, change order reviews, value engineering, constructibility review, DBE monitoring, web site/project extranet development, coordination with City agencies, cultural resources reviews, building code coordination, utility coordination, acoustics and lighting reviews, and corridor reviews of major transportation projects that may affect construction.

The overall assignment will be completed in summer 2003 for the Eagles' stadium and winter of 2004 for the Phillies' ballpark.
