Urban on Winning Team for Driscoll Bridge Projects in Northern New Jersey

Urban is a major subcontractor on the winning team for the construction management and inspection services for two separate projects involving the Driscoll Bridge in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The bridge is a critical component of the Garden State Parkway. The anticipated construction value of the projects is between $98 and $130 million.
The first project, Driscoll Bridge Widening, New Bridge, involves the demolition of the existing Driscoll Bridge fender system, partial demolition of its abutments and the construction of a new bridge to carry the proposed southbound roadway over the Raritan River. The overall length if the proposed bridge is approximately 4,380 feet and the overall width is 96 feet.
The second project: Driscoll Bridge Widening, Approaches and Miscellaneous Structures, involves improving the bridge's approach roadway. This includes constructing retaining walls and sign support structures; widening the two bridges carrying the Garden State Parkway over Chevalier Avenue; constructing roadway pavement; curbing; drainage; earthwork; highway lighting; guiderail; and other miscellaneous work.
The project is anticipated to last four years.
