Urban Engineers, Inc. honored for asphalt pavement project

The Pennsylvania Partnership for Highway Quality's (PPHQ) Asphalt Pavement Award has been given to the portion of Interstate Highway 79 between Interstate Highway 90 and U.S. Route 20 in northern Erie County, Pennsylvania. Urban Engineers, Inc. provided construction inspection services for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The project was constructed by the Russell Standard Corporation

"We are very gratified to have been involved with this outstanding project," said George Willis, P.E., Vice President in Urban’s Erie office. Willis explained that, “Most awards look beneath the surface to measure the true worth of the winner; not the PPHQ’s Asphalt Pavement Award, where the surface is the whole point.”

The PPHQ Asphalt Pavement Award is presented to the asphalt pavement project that is rated the best on such measures as smoothness, innovative techniques employed, documentation and quality measures used, among others.
