SEPTA thanks Urban for crisis funding support

Urban’s president Ed D’Alba received a letter of thanks from SEPTA chairman Pat Deon and general manager Faye Moore for supporting the agency’s efforts to overcome this year's funding crisis. The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission approved Governor Rendell’s proposal to provide the funding SEPTA needed to balance its Fiscal Year 2005 Operating Budget and defer fare increases, service cuts, and employee lay-offs. D'Alba and others in the Urban organization testified at hearings on the importance of transit to the Philadelphia region and helped raise awareness of the issues.

Said Deon and Moore, "There is still a great deal of work ahead, but we recognize ...the positive impact of your outreach initiatives with the Governor and the Legislature...We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support to help us achieve this milestone. On behalf of our customers and the region, we want to encourage you to continue to advocate for a long term funding solution, one that will enable Pennsylvania public transit to grow and plan for the future.”
