Mayor Aitken Bridge Replacement wins American Council of Engineering Companies
Engineering Award in New Jersey

In the 2005 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards competition, Urban was presented with an Engineering Excellence Distinguished Award for the Mayor Aitken Bridge project.

Urban replaced the old Mayor Aitken Bridge with a new timber bridge on a new alignment, which vastly improves the substandard roadway geometry of the old bridge in Bridgeton City Park, over Raceway Creek. Timber construction was selected as appropriate for the park-setting. The old bridge remains in place and will be used as a pedestrian crossing. Construction costs were 22 percent less than the estimated cost of $900,000.
