Urban's President Honored for "Being a True Friend"

Edward M. D’Alba, PE, President of Urban Engineers, has been selected as the “Guest of Honor” at the 42nd Anniversary of Chamounix Mansion, an International Youth Hostel, located in West Fairmount Park that serves more than 12,000 hostelers each year from more than 60 countries.

The Friends of Chamounix selected D’Alba for being a “true friend of Fairmount Park” as he was instrumental in the Fairmount Park Conservancy Board’s efforts to bring the latest technology to re-light Philadelphia’s historic Boat House Row.

“Governor Mark Schweiker, John Binswanger, President & CEO of Binswanger Companies, members of the Fairmount Park Conservancy Board, the Friends of Chamounix Mansion Committee and Members of Undine and other business leaders highly recommended Mr. D’Alba,” said Rainny Truscott, chairman of the Friends Benefit Committee. “Mr. D’Alba's stalwart dedication to our business and cultural community is unwavering. As Chairman, I am honored to have Mr. D'Alba as our honoree.”

Built in 1802 and acquired by the City of Philadelphia in 1971, Chamounix Mansion was turned over to the Friends of Chamounix 41 years ago when it was converted into the first urban youth hostel in the United States.
