Urban's New York City Office Earns ISO Certification

The New York City office of Urban Engineers achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification, effective November 10th, 2005, becoming the firm’s fifth office to earn such status.

The definitive quality standard for design/consulting firms, ISO 9001:2000 certification verifies that Urban’s quality management systems comply with the stringent requirements of the International Organization for Standardization.

Det Norske Veritas Certifications, Inc. audited and approved the ISO procedures utilized at Urban Engineers of New York, P.C. This certification is valid until November, 2008 with maintenance audits every six months.

The certification also serves as a major step in growing the New York City office in addition to achieving the company’s quality policy of, “Being our clients’ first choice.”

“In our Strategic Plan, the New York City office was targeted to earn ISO Registration by late 2006,” said Stephen B. Lester, Vice President, Engineering and Quality Services. “Through the leadership of Bill Thomsen and the hard work and expertise of Rick Simon, they achieved it a year early.

“This is very important in pursuing large projects in New York City and the State. Many of our clients and potential clients expect quality and this certification provides Urban with validation from an independent third party. Our potential clients don't have to rely on our claim of delivering quality, they have our Registrar vouching that our quality management system is meeting the premier international quality standard, ISO 9001:2000.”

Urban’s other ISO certified offices are Philadelphia and Mechanicsburg, PA, Pennsauken, NJ and New Castle, DE.
