Martsolf wins National Young Engineer Award


Urban’s Carol C. Martsolf, PE, was honored as the recipient of the 2006 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) National Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement.

This prestigious award is given annually to just a handful members from the international ASCE community who are 35 years of age or younger on February 1 in the year of the award. The recipients are deemed to have attained significant professional achievement and demonstrated the following traits:

  • Service to the advancement of the profession;

  • Evidence of technical competence, high character, and integrity;

  • Leadership in the development of younger members’ attitudes toward the profession;

  • Contributions to public service outside of their professional career; and

  • Other evidence of merit, which in the judgment of the award committee shall have advanced the Society's objectives.

Martsolf, who joined Urban in 2003, holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Temple University. She has more than 12 years experience in engineering design and program management and currently serves as a project engineer for Urban.

This award will be presented at the ASCE Annual Conference held in Chicago in October.
