Pat Dougherty honored by Villanova University


Urban’s Pat Dougherty was selected to receive a College of Engineering Meritorious Service Award from Villanova University. The award was instituted in 1984 to recognize outstanding service by graduates of Villanova’s College of Engineering.

Dougherty, who joined Urban in 2001, manages the firm’s Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania office. He earned his bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 1968 and his masters degree in Transportation Engineering in 1975, both from Villanova.

Dougherty is active in professional societies and civic activities. His memberships include the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) where he served as National President in 1997. In 2000, he received the National President's Award for outstanding service to ASHE. While Section President, he was involved in the formation of the Southern New Jersey Section of ASHE. As a representative of ASHE, Dougherty has served on the Engineers Week Council in various roles. He was elected Delaware Valley Engineer of the Year for 2000-2001 and served as Chairman of the Engineers Week Council. Dougherty serves on the Board of Directors of the Engineers Club of Philadelphia and the Villanova University Engineering Alumni Society. He was elected Delaware County Engineer of the Year for 2003 by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers.
