Gabor Honored by Delaware Valley Engineers Week Council for
Community Service

Congratulations to Urban’s Michael J. Gabor, PE, for receiving the Outstanding Service of the Community Award from the Delaware Valley Engineers Week Council. The award celebrates extraordinary achievements by, or in conjunction with, engineers.

Gabor, who is Vice President of Marine Engineering, has been with Urban since 1992. He has extensive marine infrastructure experience, including project work for such organizations as the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, the Delaware River Port Authority, the South Jersey Port Corporation, the City of Philadelphia, the Delaware River & Bay Authority, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. His experience includes participating as a project engineer, superintendent, and manager of the construction and/or maintenance of virtually every pier facility on the Delaware River and Bay and the Schuylkill River.

Active in the community, Gabor serves on the Board of Directors for several organizations, including the Seamen’s Church Institute of Philadelphia and South Jersey, Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation, and the Maritime Academy Charter School. Other notable organizations that benefit from Gabor’s time, energy, and resources include Philadelphia City Sail, Inc., Bartram’s Gardens, Merchant Marine Veterans of America, Independence Seaport Museum, Delaware Avenue Clean-Up, and the Boy Scouts of America.

The award is based on career achievement, and is only presented annually if the selection committee determines that the nominations are of such quality as to justify the award. Former Delaware Valley Engineers of the Year comprise the committee.
