Urban's Internal Training Reaches Participants from Several Branch Office and Practice Areas |

|
Over 60 students/employees are participating in Urban’s current Internal Training Series on the topic of drainage design and stormwater management. Urban’s instructors, Thomas Paul, Joseph Musil, PE, and Timothy Polaski, PE, bring a combined 70 years of related project experience to the course.
Through the technological capability of Webex, 25 Urban employees from seven branch offices were able to take part. Webex not only allows students to watch the presentation slides on their computer screen and hear the instructors through a live phone connection, but also broadcasts a live video feed of the speaker, giving branch office participants the benefit of seeing the class action.
Course material is basic, allowing for students with a variety of practice areas and knowledge levels to participate. Employees from practice areas such as highways, environmental, airports, and marine bring a diverse project background to classes, enhancing classroom discussions.
At the completion of this training series, attendees will be familiar with basic drainage, stormwater regulations, infiltration, design of stormwater management devices, and how these project fundamentals tie together. Class instruction and practical exercise has made students aware that drainage design is an important element that needs to be addressed early on in transportation projects.
