Urban Partners with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society



In conjunction with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS)’s Philadelphia Green Program, Urban launched internal training on the topic of Tree and Streetscape Design. These informational classes will discuss particular requirements of urban trees, demonstrate how to specify them for project’s work and recommend best management practices to ensure healthy and vigorous trees.

Class topics include Tree Biology and Urban Stresses; Nursery Stock; and Regulations and Maintenance. Thirty-five attendees from various satellite offices and practice areas are participating. The last class will include a site visit around Center City Philadelphia.

The instructors include various local organizations such as the PHS’ Philadelphia Green Program, Pennsylvania State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences, PECO Energy, University of Pennsylvania’s Morris Arboretum, Bartlett Tree Experts, and Fairmount Park’s Operations and Management Division.
