Urban of New York Wins 2008 Engineering Excellence Gold Award

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC) selected Urban Engineers of New York for the 2008 Engineering Excellence Gold Award in the Environmental category.

The NYSDOT commissioned Urban’s Buffalo Office, to perform construction management and inspection for reconstruction of Niagara Falls Boulevard including relocation of approximately 2000 meters of Sawyer Creek, which parallels the Boulevard.

The project required reestablishment of plant life, the transfer of resident wildlife, and provision of a new drainage system to collect and filter the highway drainage through six Vortec Filter units.

This project will is an example to the entire highway industry that highway projects can be accomplished while being environmentally sensitive.
